Definition:

When letter are written by Business or non business concerns on official matters, it’s known as official letters.
Government, semi government, non trading concerns etc are different parties of official letters

Parts of an official letter

Heading

Heading of the official include the name of the govt department, letter number, place and date which is printed on the top of the page, an example is given below:

                                                                       Government of KPK
                                                                       Public Service commission
                                                                       Letter no: MNO 5500
                                                                       Peshawar dated 25 December 2012

 Letter number:

In most official letters a letter number is given for further correspondence.

Date and Place:

The date and place is included in the heading of the letter.

Designation and address of the receiver:

The designation and address of the receiver is given just below the heading, an example is given below

                                      The finance officer
                                      Govt of KPK
                                      Labor department,
                                      Khyber road Peshawar.

Subject of the letter:

The subject of the letter indicate the purpose of the message it also called a short summary

Body of the letter:

The body of the letter contains the actual message or the core idea which the sender intend to convey to the receiver.

Signature:

Signature is put just below the body of the letter. its also important to write the designation and signature of the individual possess the authority.
